For: any 8 and Under swimmer who has NOT competed in an A Meet
Time: Sunday 19 July 2009 4:00 warmups, 5:00 meet start
Place: Quail Valley pool 18701 Quail Valley Blvd Gaithersburg MD
Entry fee: $3 per swimmer per event

Team Manager template- Use this template to set up your entries. Please note that Team Manager will only recognize the 4 strokes and cannot handle kickboard events. Any event in the template labeled as 25M IM is actually a kickboard event. Set up your entries and export a copy as well as your roster and send to whittakers@qvmarlins.org no later than than 5pm 7/18.

Weekly Update- Week2
Hi everyone –
Congratulations to the Quail Valley Marlins for another great victory on Saturday!  Thanks also to all of the volunteers for making us look so good – many people commented on how organized and efficient we were at the meet, and we could not do it without our wonderful volunteers!

The Dive-In Movie also went very well on Saturday evening – thanks to the swimmers for their respectful behavior.  Our team always uses kind words with each other and the older team members help take care of the younger ones.  QV Marlins rule the pool in sportsmanship and consideration!

Frederick Keys Game
This team event scheduled for Monday, June 29th has been cancelled due to lack of interest at this time – we may try to reschedule another similar event for later in the season. 

B Meet at Lake Marion, Tuesday, June 30th
Swimmers should arrive at the Lake Marion pool, 8821 East Village Ave, Montgomery Village, no later than 5:15 – warm-ups begin at 5:30 and the meet starts at 6:00.  Directions to the pool are in the team handbook. Volunteers are still needed for this event – please look for the signup sheet posted on the team bulletin board if you can help on Tuesday evening.

A Meet at Hillandale, Friday, July 3rd
Meet at QV at 7:15am to caravan to Hillandale (please look for e-mails later in the week for the meet lineup and any time changes).  Here are the directions:

From points south or west
·       Take the Beltway east to the second New Hampshire Avenue exit (Rt. 650 north, toward White Oak). 
·       Come off the exit and turn right by the Hillandale Shopping Center onto Powder Mill Road (it's the third light  in the very quick succession of lights). 
·       Turn right at the very first street, which is Green Forest Drive. 
·       The pool is ~ a dozen houses down on your right.
From points north 
·       Take New Hampshire Avenue south. 
·       At the last light before the Beltway (at the Hillandale Shopping Center), turn left onto Powder Mill Road.
·       Turn right at the very first street, which is Green Forest Drive. 
·       The pool is ~ a dozen houses down on your right.

Sno-Cone Mini Meet at QV, Saturday, July 4th
Our very own mini-marlins will participate in this very fun and exciting “practice” meet at our pool.  This is a morning meet, starting at 9:00am.  Please see the bulletin board for updates and volunteer information (older swimmers are welcome to help in the water and as timers). Flower Hill Mini Meet, Sunday, July 5th
The Flower Hill Pool is located at the corner of Flower Hill Way and Mountain Laurel Lane in Gaithersburg, just across from the Flower Hill McDonalds and Giant Shopping Center.  See the team bulletin board for details or contact Meredith Ingram at Mlipony@aol.com.  (The registration form and order of events are above.)

 

Communication :

Don't miss out! This year as in past the team reps will primarily distribute information via e-mail. Unlike in past years however these communications will sent through a google group. Team members and families will be required to sign up to receive these messages. There are two methods available.

1. Quick and easy:

To subscribe to a group via email, send an email from your account to qvmarlins+subscribe@googlegroups.com. An email will be sent, reply to it as instructed and you will receive team info as it becomes available.

2. Full access with web :

1. Go to http://groups.google.com/group/qvmarlins

2. In the right column click on ‘Join this group’.

3. To join QVMarlins Google group:

1. If you already have a Google account, enter your email and passwordw.  You will now be able to see the info for the QVMarlins group.

2. If you don’t have a Google account, click on the ‘Create an Account’button on the right side of the page. Follow the steps to create an account.

4. You will receive a message from Google in your mailbox.  You must click on the link provided to complete the sign-up process. 
5. Once you join the group you will receive information on upcoming meets, volunteer reminders/needs, etc.
